Physics Lab

Our school’s physics lab is a pathway for future scientists. It is very spacious with good aeration. This helps the students to work concurrently and in unison as a team. The lab can accommodate about 30 students at same time. The lab is air-conditioned to provide comfort to the students. The walls are decorated with colorful charts made by our students. The lab is well equipped with many technical instruments that show a high level of accuracy. These instruments are adequate in number for the enrichment of the student’s practical knowledge. Experiments are explained to and done by the students, with care given to intricate details of each of them, so that once imbibed, the details remain in the young minds for future times. The lab is used by the students of classes III to XII. All the activities mentioned in textbook are done in the lab. The Students are given enough practical classes based on the curriculum. Using the facilities provided by the lab, students have won prizes at State and National level Exhibitions. The students get enlightened by the experiments what they do in the lab. The highlighting feature is the safety standard that allows high quality practical work in learning to happen unrestricted and very effectively. Therefore, ONGC PUBLIC SCHOOL’S Physics lab gives a well-built scientific knowledge to the students.

Chemistry Lab

At school, the chemistry laboratory is a place of exploration, discovery and learning. The laboratory has been given central and distinctive role in science education. Chemistry lab is a required component of most chemistry courses. Learning about lab procedures and performing experiments helps to learn techniques and reinforces textbook.

In our school the chemistry lab is located in a still ambience, with conducive atmosphere for learning and performing experiments. The lab is very big, more spacious, highly ventilated and technically equipped. Chemicals are available for carrying out experiments for all the classes, especially Senior Secondary Classes.

We also have equipment like Owen, electronic balance, chemical balance, distilled water plant, electrical furnace, etc. Exhaust fans are fitted at proper places for reducing heat and pollution inside the lab. Separate racks, modernized wash basins and seats are provided for each student to perform their experiments. Fire extinguishers are fitted at the entrance of the chemistry lab. Periodic classification maps and topic-wise maps are available.

Mathematics Lab

Math Lab provides an opportunity to students to understand and internalize the basic mathematical concepts through concrete objects and situations. It enables the students to verify or discover several geometrical properties and facts using models or by paper cutting and folding techniques. It helps the students to build interest and confidence in learning the subject.

The laboratory provides opportunity to exhibit the relatedness of mathematical concepts with everyday life. It provides greater scope for individual participation in the process of learning and becoming autonomous learners. It provides scope for greater involvement of both the mind and the hand which facilities cognition.

The laboratory allows and encourages the students to think, discuss with each other and the teacher and assimilate the concepts in a more effective manner. It enables the teacher to demonstrate, explain and reinforce abstract mathematical ideas by using concrete objects, models, charts, graphs, pictures, posters, etc.

Most of the above skills easily developed by using indigenous materials like paper, sticks, pins, thread, plywood, card boards and several other simple locally available materials. The objective of the laboratory is to promote critical thinking and ability to approach a problem in different ways. It is therefore essential that our students are exposed to think differently and approach problems without any fear. It calls for taking the concepts of Mathematics beyond the limitations of the text books.
